Friday 28th November 2008:

PEACE III FUNDING APPLIED FOR
A substantial funding application has been submitted to the CRC/Border Action consortium for money to deliver an innovative PEACE III project.

This project, pending funding being made available, will deliver a creative and demanding project that will represent development of what we have already successfully delivered with previous PEACE funding.  In keeping with the reconciliation motivation of this funding scheme, it will deliver an educative/training programme on the dynamics of reconciliation, and will organisation a series of residentials where we will meet with different people, and engage in the difficult practical discipline of giving real reconciliation flesh.

If successful, this project will commence in April 2009, and will continue for 2+ years.

OFMDFM - Victims Unit

Given the potentially crippling funding gap between the end of PEACE II Ext and the availability of PEACE III, the Victims Unit has made available funding for the interim period, which will go towards the salaries of our tweo project officers, and cover those costs for six months, ending in february 2009.  This amounts to approximately £18,000.

Strabane District Council
WTV has been awarded a small grant of £1,515 for cultural activities.  The grant representas 75% of the total cost of these events, and Pauline Buchanan will be responsible for organising these events.

DFA - Reconciliation Fund

WTV has also been successful in being awarded approximately £8,000 from the Dublin government for group reconciliation activities.  This funding will enable us to organise three residentials that will deal with reconciliation issues.

West Tyrone Voice seeks to provide the highest level of services to its members, and as such, has accessed various funding sources to enable us to run the following projects:

CRC Core Funding

This funding enables us to run our core work, including the drop-in centre, counselling, and the main administration, comes to us from the Northern Ireland government, through the Community Relations Council (CRC).

At present we are awaiting word from CRC as to the funding arrangements from 1st April 2009 onwards, but as yet, OFMDFM has not informed CRC of what's happening.
